Purses and handbags....

It's been a while since i last wrote something, but i'm back and i'm going to write about handbags.
What do we know about handbags? They are to be practical, but also glossy and fashionable. So the question is, what do we need a handbag for? Some people say " when you need something, you better search for it in a woman handbag than on the internet". Obviously that this saying isn't true, but it has a meaning that includes all the feasibility of the handbag.
From the begining of mankind, the handbag was present in different shapes and from different fabrics. Egypthians carried pouches around the waist, in the 14th century; embroidery and jewels adorned these articles. Besides of being practicall, they were used also to show status, and the richer the person, the more eleborated the bag.
Jumpig to the 16th century we can see that the bags were more practical, made from leather, and from cloth fabric, but they were bigger and turists wore them diagonally across the body. The 17th century brought the experience of new designs in handbags for both men and women. In order to be married young girls were taught embroidery as a skill.
Women started to wear "reticules" in the 18th century, because the neo-classical fashion brought the idea that big bags were ugly. For each ocassion, women wore different purses, that could contain smelling salts, face powder, a fan, rouge, a scent bottle.
"Handbag" first came into use in the early 1900's and it reffered at luggage bags carried usually by men. The 1920's saw a revolution in fashion; bags no longer needed to match the outfit perfectly and the trend for ladies was to carry a doll dressed like herself. The discovery of King Tutankhamun's tomb inspired Egyptian art on purses.
Starting with 1940 other materials came to replace metal frames, zips, leather and mirrors, and the manufacters used plastic and wood. After all this history came Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Chanel, Hermes that gave us new concepts of the bag.
The Bag is the accessory that couldn't be left at home. No matter were you go , or how you dress, the bag is your friend.
